ClubBuzz: Friday July PubQuiz and Saturday Groundbreaking

Groundbreaking Update
Friday is the July Pub Quiz
and Double-Header on the 24th!

Biggest Virtual Crowd Ever!

Huge thanks to Peter and Deb for their talk on Sailing from San Francisco to The BVI. We had more than 40 people registered for the event: our biggest virtual crowd so far.

The talk was entertaining and fascinating and the pictures breathtaking. Here’s the PDF of the presentation in case you missed it.

Updated details on the
Ground Breaking Ceremony

As you will have seen in this morning’s email from Peter, we are modifying the plan for Saturday’s Groundbreaking Ceremony.

The start time remains 10:45 am. The Ceremony will begin at 11:00 and will conclude at around 11:30 am.

The gift bags to commemorate the groundbreaking will be provided to each member at the ceremony upon arriving. Alternatively, registered members who choose not to attend can collect their bag later.

If you have already registered, we need you to re-register to let us know if you are still coming. You can re-register here.

July Pub Quiz this Friday

Open-Air Concert – July 24th

One Sunday last summer accordionist Paul Aebersold and opera singer Gloria Gazave were performing at the Willow Glen farmers’ market.  They were playing the Duetto from Delibe’s opera Lakmé twice through, switching soprano and contralto parts on the repeat when suddenly a young woman in the crowd joined in singing one of the parts. This was Christine, who then came over to introduce herself. Christine describes herself as a cross-over artist, hungry for new and exciting opportunities, and had planned to join Paul for a number of farmers’ markets this summer, only the markets have canceled live music due to coronavirus concerns.

Christine and Paul are planning to host an open-air concert on Friday, July 24. Space will be limited.

Register here – full details on Monday.

Also on the 24th – Friday Fun Series Race #2
