Transcript of Peter's message:

First - I do hope that you and your families are doing well. We have both the pandemic and more recently the serious fire hazard together with poor air quality... not a good combination. Our thoughts are with those that have evacuated and the many firefighters working around the clock to contain the fires.

On the Building we are waiting for the construction go ahead from the Building department of the city. As you know we submitted the construction drawings for the road and utilities as soon as the Planning Permit was approved. The contractors for the road and utilities are lined up. It is hard to be patient! We are also not wasting any time as the building construction drawings are being prepared by the architect. The restaurant team is working with the architect on the detail of the floor plan of the restaurant and the kitchen. The Club interior layout needs a few final decisions which are being agreed. Once the interior plan is complete is complete we can start on the interior design. So there has been good activity in the last month.

The news from The Club continues to be positive. We have enjoyed two open air concerts this month and both were delightful. One was along the rowing dock where people can easily spread out and a number of members also brought their dinghies along. With a pleasant breeze it was a perfect summer evening. The second was out by the helicopter pad which is protected from the winds and looking over the marshes with great musicians Dirty Cello. This was a marvelous performance for our members. They are not only great musicians but are very personable with fun repartee and great energy. It was easy to spread out and social distance, a great setting. That plus some fun Friday Zoom evenings made it a busy and successful social month. Our thanks to the Event team led by LuAnne for organizing all of this! And our thanks to Kevin for setting up all the Zoom events. September looks great with another open air concert featuring the Whiskey Hill Billies on Sept 12th plus our popular Friday Zoom events.

The Membership continues to grow and it is great to report we now have 164 members from 92 memberships. The new members this month were all from PYSF referrals. This is good to see and reinforces the strength of our partnership with PYSF.

Other topical news is we have set off an important initiative on strengthening our branding and marketing. We have a lot of good things that we can be proud of in the last two years but there is an opportunity to make sure we continue to build the brand and market who we are.  This is being led by Paulien and Kevin. We look forward to sharing our ideas with you all.

We have also scheduled the next General Meeting for October 23rd. It is more than likely to be a Zoom event but we shall be sure to make it interactive so we can answer your questions as well as give an important update on Club matters.

In the meantime I want to emphasize as always that we continue to welcome feedback, input and questions from you.

My very best wishes to all of you.

Peter
