Peter Blackmore, Club President, December Message

Text of Peter’s message

Hello Everyone. I do hope that you and your families are doing well. And I also hope that you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving although I am sure that it was a little different to the usual family gathering at this time.

November has seen both an opening up of restrictions quickly followed by a reversal two weeks later. As a result, we have closed down the interim Clubhouse again but during those two weeks pleased to report that some members were able to take advantage of it. Whether watching their families sail or simply looking at the great views of the marina we had some pleasant sunny days in November to enjoy.

Holiday Party

We are holding a Holiday event on Friday December 11th via Zoom and have a good number already signed up. This will be a fun event so do attend if you can. There will be toasts to the members with wines available from J Wines but whether a wine drinker or not do join as great music, lots of fun things organized to make you laugh and get into the Holiday spirit. These include an ugly holiday sweater competition… bound to have some amusing moments.

2020 Member Survey

On a different theme my thanks to all the members who completed our Survey. There was a good response with 69 surveys completed.  The results are very interesting and will help the Club manage our priorities well over the coming year. We are tabulating the results and putting them into a graphic format so that we can distribute them to all of you and they are easy to read. We shall be sending the results out by mid-December. I am also pleased to report we had another new member who joined in November and that there are several applications in progress. It is good to see the continued interest and membership growth.

Building

There continues to be solid progress on the building both with the road and utilities and the building itself. There has been good interchange with the City engineering department on the construction of the road and utilities. Our building team is very engaged and has prepared a comprehensive set of replies to all the questions and we are waiting for additional feedback from the City. They know we are keen to get going on the road and utilities and have construction teams lined up. In parallel, the building drawings for construction are still on track to be submitted in December.

My best wishes for the Holidays later this month and of course the New Year. 2020 will go down as a challenging year so let’s keep our spirits up for a positive Holiday period and the promise of a good New Year.

Peter
