Hello everyone – I do hope you and your families are well and also enjoying the great weather that we are fortunate to have right now.
As I mentioned last month we planned the start of the road/utilities works in February. You can all now see that is well underway. Remember this is to provide the utilities and road access to the new Club/restaurant building but also meets those needs for that whole section of the marina. It is great to see the progress and the fine weather is also a benefit. So far there are no delays due to any heavy rain.
In addition, the building construction plans have been with the City since early February. We are waiting for their detailed feedback which occurs within about 45 days so I look forward to giving you an update by next month.
I really hope you were able to join us for the zoom presentation on February 19th which featured the architects and their vision for the new building. If not a recording was made and the link was in last week’s Buzz. If you cannot find it please just ask Kevin or me. Do please take a look at this. It is really exciting to see the building plans coming together so well plus we were able to show the rendering of how the Club interior can look. I do hope that you were all very pleased with what you saw. And remember we do want your feedback. Please send it as suggested in the Buzz or if you prefer just send me an email.
Spring (although perhaps a little early) is certainly in the air and we are looking forward to restarting our open-air events as soon as we can. These are very popular and we estimate by April the restrictions will have been relaxed to enable this. We hope so! In the meantime, the monthly Zoom concerts continue with a great Valentine’s evening which was very well attended and we look forward to the March event with Devon McClive a very talented singer and musician. And the regular Zoom events continue to be well organized and popular!
Also we have re-opened the interim clubhouse albeit with the restrictions on no bar service and limited to less than 12 people in total with a maximum of three groups. The information is in the Buzz. It is a great place to just hang out with your family or a couple of friends. As the restrictions relax in line with the San Mateo guidelines we shall obviously reopen the bar when we can but will always follow the protocols to protect your safety.
For the sailors amongst us, we plan on starting the Friday Fun Series in April and the AC laser racing late March. It is going to be an increasingly active social and sporting scene!
As I have mentioned before please do let us know any suggestions/ideas that you have for events. We want to hear from you!
It is a good start to the year for the Club and we are excited. Thank you for all of your great support.
