I do hope you and your families are doing well!
Gosh, we are into April already and March seemed to just fly by…
As those of you who visit the marina regularly can see the road/utility construction is proceeding well. There were a few days of rain in March but the ground preparation was completed and the concrete work (curbs and gutters) is 50% complete and will be finished next week. The underground work for utilities/cables then begins. After that is finished they will pave the road and parking area. So great progress.
We are pinging the Redwood City building department about the building permit. We are sure they will have some questions so expect to hear shortly. It is now 7 weeks since we submitted the building construction plans. We’ll keep you updated but our approach is to contact them to see if any questions, once we get those respond quickly and gently push this along. Ideally, the permit is granted as the road construction is completed. Our building contractor who is a different one from the road contractor is standing by.
Spring is officially here and we are looking forward to starting the Friday Fun Series in April. The RC Laser races also started this weekend. The interim Clubhouse is open albeit with normal precautions for the ‘orange tier’ status and we hope these will continue to relax soon. In particular, we want the open-air gatherings and concerts to start as soon as possible. We have great bands set up for April, May, and June.
And it is great to see so many of you at the Zoom events in March. They were very well attended and a varied and fun set of entertainment from fine music, to tours of a members new boat, to watch the excitement of America’s Cup and of course the regular pub quiz.
As you know we were delighted to add a new Board Member, Medea Bern, in March. We also added another full membership last month so we are now up to 163 members. We continue to make good progress with membership and as the building construction starts we shall obviously encourage more people to join.
I look forward to a busy April in the Club and the opportunity to get together outside for our open-air events as soon as the restrictions allow that. I am sure everyone feels the same way!
