Welcome New Members

Russell and Tina White
Russell, Tina, and their son Tim left Australia in March 2016 and moved onboard ‘Hugo’ (a Nautitech 542 sailing catamaran) they had built on the west coast of France. Since leaving La Rochelle they have sailed over 24,000nm from the North Atlantic Ocean, through the Strait of Gibraltar and across the Mediterranean Sea, stopping at numerous islands and ports in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, as the Far East as Turkey, then back westwards to Morocco and the Canary Islands. From there they joined the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) and sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Bermuda, and then to the US where they moved to Nashville for 3.5 years. At the beginning of 2020, they started their journey to relocate to California, sailing Hugo down the east coast and through the Panama Canal. Hugo then got stuck in Costa Rica where they once again lived onboard Hugo through the COVID season until the borders opened and they could finally sail to the Bay Area – their long-term home. They are excited to meet everyone, make new friends and join the vibrant Westpoint community.

She loves sailing and has sailed for the last 4yrs on a 50′ Jeanneau.

Alison Carlson
Alison was born in the English Lake District but raised all over the world. She spent four years of high school in Mexico City, and after completing her University degree in the United States, she moved to the Middle East, where she was able to follow her passion and work as a photographer. Alison has a lifelong interest in Churchill stemming from her parents, who lived through WWII in England. Alison recently published a book, “The Man Within: Winston Churchill An Intimate Portrait ” (on Amazon). Alison has a True Passion for sailing, and she has sailed in most of the places she lived, and even her golden retriever would sail with her.
