The Club at Westpoint will welcome back our fan-favorite local band, the Whiskey Hill Billies!
Dan, Steve, Pete, and Andy bring a unique blend of wit and personality to their collection of Americana and Country music, weaving three-part harmonies and seven different acoustic instruments and tasty percussion into classics that you know, and originals that you’ll love!

The Billies will set up their stage on the Helipad.
Music will start at 5:00 pm until sundown.

We will be practicing social distancing per the county’s guidelines in force at the time.

Special Member Presentation
Connie and Bob Puccetti
Friday, April 30th – on Zoom

First-time boaters, Bob and Connie Puccetti were able to make their first long-distance boating trip. They were invited to join three other couples, and their boats, for a cruise out to the Delta. They traveled for two weeks with their new boater friends, then stayed on for another six weeks at Willow Berm Marina.

What an amazing experience they had, but most importantly, they are now looking forward to their next adventure. Join in on this zoom presentation to hear about their fun adventure, “the good, the bad, and the ugly”.

News: East Brother Light Station

From Latitude 38: On April 1, the power cable connecting the station to the rest of the world broke.

Lightkeeper Desiree Heveroh spoke about the situation she now finds herself in. “It gets real cold on this rock. If it was at all possible, I’m living even further back in time here now, I get the fireplace packed every morning with eucalyptus bark and branches from around the island that I collect.”

The failed submarine power cable is owned by the US Coast Guard. Whereas in the past USCG has organized repairs as needed — for example when the cable was damaged after a lightning strike in 1991 — it now seems unlikely that they will foot the bill for full power restoration. The backup battery and generator systems that are in place are enough to keep the light blinking, but not enough to power the rest of the island’s energy requirements.

Richmond Mayor Tom Butt has put out a public plea for ideas and funding to help to save the station. Butt was one of the founders of East Brother Light Station, Inc., a nonprofit that rehabilitated the East Brother Light Station in 1979 and opened it as a bed and breakfast inn in 1980.
