ClubBuzz: President's May 2021 Message

ClubBuzz: May 3rd, 2021
Message from Peter

I do hope you and your families are doing well. It has been an exciting month at the Club and there has been lots of activity and positive news.

And on a personal note, I am in London for a few weeks so no video this month just this message.

The construction work continues to go well and the road/utility project is on track. The building construction permit is also progressing with good communication between the City and our building committee. BCDC has also responded to us and we are not expecting any issues at this stage. We believe the building construction permit could be agreed upon in July. That will allow the work to begin as the road/utilities should be finished in June. A lot of work still to do but steady progress!

The events have had a great April the highlight being the first open-air concert of the year with the Whiskey Hill Billies. It was a huge success with tremendous feedback from over 40 club members who attended the evening. As you can see from The Buzz we have a strong list of open-air concerts and events each month. So do come and join us!

The Clubhouse is open and people are starting to take advantage of that facility again. Please book it via Kevin. The Friday Fun Series had the first race of the season. And there were lots to enjoy at the regular Zoom events on Fridays. We plan to start a hybrid approach for certain of these. That is part in-person plus continuing with the Zoom option for people more comfortable joining in that way.

Membership applications are going well. We have approved another full membership in April and we have three additional full memberships in progress for May. It is great to see the momentum picking up.

PYSF is in full swing with fully booked classes and lots of excitement on the water.

The Westpoint Regatta which is our annual big race is now a ‘go’ for this year. More details to come but we look forward to a great race in July with many participants – usually well over 50. Plus we can all enjoy the post-race entertainment which will be held at Westpoint.

As always we welcome feedback from all of you. These could be events that you would like us to add for Club members, ideas that you are interested in sponsoring, and just any other input. There is lots of energy and momentum which is great!

Let’s have a great May at The Club!

Peter
