Cruise-Out to Sausalito

But first …
Bonito Update
from LuAnne and John

We arrived back in Washington State after transiting Canada under quarantine restrictions in 7 days, from border to border.  The flotilla and Alaskan scenery was an absolutely memorable experience, and one we hope to share with TCAW soon.  Too many pictures to sort through, but we now understand the draw to this great frontier.  The natural beauty is breathtaking, and we hope to return again soon.

We have only had BONITO for 6 months and we already have over 3000nm on her!  Wow!

Friday, July 23rd, at the PYSF Campus Westpoint
Meet The Junior Sailors and their Families
Larry’s delicious Sundowner Dogs
will be available

On Friday, July 23 will be a Friday Fun race, and PY is doing a family night, where parents come and socialize, there’s a BBQ, and small boats are usually available for people to try out. Junior sailors will be joining the race, and afterward, everyone meets at the PYSF Tent for Latty’s delicious Sundowner Dogs. Think of this as a social evening, with an opportunity to meet the PY team, PY parents, Junior Sailors. And their chance to meet us. Having a strong showing by our members would let our junior sailors know how important they are to us. You don’t have to race, you can just show up after the race for the social party.

Check out this weekend’s regatta on Instagram.

August 28th and 29th
C420 Pacific Coast Championships
Spectator Boats Needed

We need spectator boats and both on-water and on-land volunteers on Aug 28 and 29th, to support the junior C420 Pacific Coast Championships. There will be junior sailors from all over the west coast visiting PY and Westpoint Harbor to participate in the championships. Projections suggest about 30 sailboats racing, and with west-coast specific attendance, parents of the junior racers will likely be in town too and would love an opportunity to ride on a spectator boat to view the race.

Please let me know if you’re interested in volunteering, either on-land or on-water (spectator boat or committee boat). Shannon (email)

Sausalito Cruise-Out – Labor Day Weekend

Hello TCAW Cruisers,

I’m excited to announce that this week I was able to secure Schoonmaker Point Marina in Sausalito for our Labor Day Cruise Out.

This cruise out will be the first actual cruise out to another marina since before COVID—I can’t believe it’s been over a year!

The Labor Day cruise out is officially Friday, Sept 3rd, and goes to Monday, Sept 6th (Schoonmaker requires a three-night minimum stay that weekend).

Grunion will be spending much of the preceding week at Schoonmaker, and we encourage others to join us! Otherwise, we suggest boats plan to arrive by Friday afternoon. Slack at the San Mateo Bridge is around noon, so ride the ebb up the bay and arrive before sunset!

We will start with Welcome Docktails on Friday afternoon as everyone arrives. A preview of the planned weekend activities include:

  • Saturday breakfast — Tod and I will prepare a large Shakshuka on the beach (see pic)
  • Saturday evening — a beach potluck BBQ supplemented with award-winning Lockford Meats grilled sausages, games, and prizes
  • Sunday morning —  we’ve reserved a block of appointments at Cavallo Point Spa (if interested, please look at the available treatments as you will be asked to make a selection during the sign-up process)
  • Sunday night — we’ll celebrate with a dinner out as a group (location TBD)

No boat? No problem! Yes, you are more than welcome to join us for any part of the long weekend!
All members are welcome to “blacktop” to Schoonmaker to join the group either for a day or for the weekend—there are several hotels nearby.

Important Note: The sign-up sheet for this cruise out will be posted this Wednesday, July 21st, at 6 pm. Here is the link for the sign-up: this page will be live at 6:00 pm on Wednesday.

Space is limited as are the spa appointments so reservations for the cruise out will be assigned first-come, first-served.

We’re looking forward to you joining us on Labor Day Weekend in Sausalito!
