1. Mask Requirements
The Club at Westpoint Members and Guests shall follow the current San Mateo County Health Order requiring face coverings[1] while in the Clubhouse and restrooms:

“This Order directs that face coverings shall be worn, regardless of vaccination status, over the mouth and nose, in all indoor public settings, venues, gatherings, and workplaces, such as, but not limited to: offices, retail stores, restaurants, and bars, theaters, family entertainment centers, conference centers and government offices serving the public.”

Exemptions to this mask requirement:
You are not required to wear a mask indoors in a restaurant, bar, or office when you are eating or drinking. Also, children younger than two years old should not wear masks because of the risk of suffocation. The order exempts:

  • Those with medical exemption written by a medical professional
  • The hearing impaired or those communicating with the hearing impaired
  • When wearing a more protective piece of equipment than a face covering, such as an N95 respirator
  • When working alone in a closed office or room
  • Persons who are specifically exempted from wearing face masks by other CDPH guidance
  • Speaking at a meeting as long as they are socially distanced from the audience (6’ / 2m)

Note, as the County’s guidelines evolve The Club will adopt them. Our goal is always to be in harmony with the Harbor guidelines. If in doubt, check TheClubAtWestpoint.com/Covid-19.

2. Proof of Vaccination
Although not required by San Mateo County, proof of vaccination will be required to enter the Clubhouse. All Members and Guests will show their proof of vaccination on initial entry to the clubhouse. Once checked a small decal will be attached to the name badge, Membership card (physical and in SlipStream) and the fact they have been checked will be added to the member’s record. Once this has been done for Members they will not have to be checked on subsequent entry to the facility. A negative COVID test is not acceptable in lieu of proof of vaccination.

Acceptable proof of vaccination any of the following that includes the Member’s/Guest’s name, date of birth, vaccine type, and date(s) administered:

  • COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (issued by the CDC); or
  • A QR code that displays the Vaccine Record; or
  • A photocopy, pdf, or jpeg of a completed vaccination card or QR code that display the Vaccine Record; or
  • A photo of a completed vaccination card stored on a phone or electronic device; or
  • Other documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider that includes the Vaccine Record.

Exemptions to this Vaccine Requirement
The only exceptions from the vaccination proof requirement are for Members and Guests who are either under the minimum age for vaccination or have a medical exemption.

House Committee Chair: Winston Bumpus

[1] The CDC recommends N95 or KN95 masks. Cloth masks are no protection against the Omicron variant.

Update on the Building from Mark
and New Year’s Day Pictures

Building Update from Mark:
The holidays are now over so we’ll see the return of the construction crews soon. The City is also back to work this week so our paperwork should be progressing.

The contract with the builder is signed and the elevator is ordered. Small steps, but important ones.

And the Northern California Boat Show has been delayed to the fall of 2022.

Junior Sailing Program Open for Members to Register

A unique benefit of membership in The Club at Westpoint is our affiliation with the Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation. This world-class youth sailing program is the very best in sailing instruction and competition for sailors from 8 to 18. The head coaches are US Olympic sailors with decades of training and competition experience.

Registration for Spring 2022 Classes is open now for members of The Club to register their junior sailors.

  • Please look over the classes and determine which course(s) you would like to register your sailors for. If you are not sure, contact the program director, Molly Vandemoer before January 2nd.

  • Boats are provided for all introductory level classes and high school race teams. Boat ownership is needed for Opti and 420 race teams after your first season.

  • You will receive professional coaching

  • All sailors must wear a US Coast Guard approved life-jacket

  • A safety boat is present for all sessions

  • Cancellation Policy: $50 service charge for cancellation prior to the first date of the class. Those not removed from the waitlist due to over-subscription will be refunded class fees.

  • PYSF Scholarships are available as part of PYSF’s mission to be a community sailing program that teaches sailing regardless of ability to pay. To apply for a scholarship, complete the PYSF Request for Scholarship and contact treasurer@pysf.us if you have any questions.
