Wednesday: Fireside Chat
We had a great turnout for Robin’s Fireside Chat on Wednesday with about a third of the membership in person or on Zoom. out of the meeting came lots of great feedback and ideas, many of those items you’ll find in today’s Buzz.

Annual Member Survey
Next week expect an email with the annual survey of members. We do this every year to check that the information we have in our database is correct. This year we are adding a couple of other items to the process. You can give feedback on how you think The Club is doing and also give us your thoughts on what events you’d like to see next year.

So let’s get on with the Buzz!

Thanks,

Kevin

Ideas and actions coming out of the meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended. Seeing so many members in the middle of the week was great. In total, online and in-person there were over 60 people in attendance.

Actions and ideas from the meeting:

  1. To help members recruit other members make The Brochure available to every member. So here is the link to the two-page (tri-fold version). To print it out choose two-sided printing and have it flip on the short side. You can share the link with anyone.
  2. People interested in Kayaking and Paddleboarding have an email group called: Kayaking@TheClubAtWestpoint.com and several members asked to be added to the group – you’ve been added. If you would like to be added – email me.
  3. Westpoint Regatta 2023 update: the planning starts in earnest next year but we already know the date, July 8th and we have booked advertising starting next month. Members recommended we find ways to get the junior sailors at PYSF involved both in the racing and the volunteering.
  4. And talking of Marketing, The Club and the new clubhouse will be featured in Lattitude 38 and ‘Lectronic Latitude next year in February, March, and April to start to drive the excitement and buzz around the new clubhouse and restaurant. We are still developing the remainder of the marketing campaign.
  5. And our very own Larry Mayne will be the 2023 Commodore of PICYA (that connects all 105 Bay Area Yacht Clubs) which gives us a great opportunity to promote The Club and the new clubhouse at those events.
  6. Members want to see more photos of the work going on in the clubhouse. So, every Monday there will be new pictures of the inside and outside as work progresses.
  7. This brings us to the new House Rules being developed by Winston Bumpus. When we move into to the new building we will need an updated set of House Rules. Winston is collecting ideas from the many and varied clubs he has been associated with and visited but he’d like to hear your ideas too. Please send them to me and I will collate them for Winston.
  8. The Lipton Regatta is a month before the Westpoint Regatta and Winston Bumpus is going to organize that The Club at Westpoint is part of the race this year.
  9. Members volunteered to help our marvelous Port Captains and you have been connected with them. If you’d like to help the Prot Captains as they assist crews visiting Westpoint. Email PortCaptains@TheClubAtWestpoint.com.
  10. Members also volunteered to help the Events Teams and they have been connected together too. If you’d like to help you can contact the events team at Events@TheClubAtWestpoint.com.
  11. The partnership with PYSF is being redeveloped and the board is looking for input from members.
