Hey All,
Thought I’d report in the results of the Coastal Cleanup effort from Westpoint Harbor. I’m really pleased to say we had a great turnout. Several families in addition to folks from the Stanford sailing club combed the area and picked up more than I thought would be out there. In total 123 pounds of material were picked up and deposited in the dumpster accordingly.
Items picked up included: rotted sand bags, 2×4 lumber pieces, plastic containers of many varieties, coffee cups, rusty pieces of rebar, a whole lot of cigarette butts, styrofoam, glass bottles, beer cans, food wrappers, pieces of wire, electrical wire, siding, bottle caps, water bottles, a rat trap that was broken, rope, rotted clothing and 1 shoe.
I hope this information is what you were looking for, and while I know we’re not supposed to say “lots” I sure wasn’t going to count all those nasty cigarette butts! Terry and I enjoyed our time at the event and look forward to next year.
Cheers,
Paula
