Hello everyone. I sincerely hope all is well with you and your families!
This month’s report is primarily about building progress and we have good news for you!
I am pleased to report that the permit for the construction of the road /utilities has been agreed and we should receive it this week. We shall now be staking out the construction area so the Contractor who has been appointed by Westpoint Harbor can commence work. There is a lot to do as this is obviously needed for the Club and the restaurant but actually provides utilities for that whole area of land along that side of the marina. My thanks to our building team and the many people involved. It was a full 6 plus months exercise with a lot of detail. Our estimate for completion of this phase of the work is 5 months. We are in the wet season so will keep you updated but obviously good news!
In parallel, the building construction plans are being sent into the City this week. We are keen to get these approved so that work commences on the building as soon as it can. Permit approvals are taking time at the moment but we shall be working diligently with the City to get these done. We shall give the timeline for the building as soon as we receive the feedback from the City on a likely permit date but we expect the construction to be 6 plus months.
We wanted you, the members, to see the latest construction drawings together with renderings of what the interior will look like. We have set up a ZOOM session on February 19th. The presentation will be given by the architects themselves. We think you will be excited as there are many improvements since the last set of drawings were available. The building looks really great. We look forward to sharing this with you so please join us on February 19th. The zoom details will be in The Buzz.
We are also active with events planning and have organized one major concert each month plus our regular weekly Zoom activities. We just enjoyed Dirty Cello who are excellent. Their irrepressible energy and good music are fantastic even on Zoom. In February we look forward to our Valentine’s event with the Brian Ho Jazz trio! And our Event Committee is keen to hear from you with suggestions, ideas and the Buzz gives you their email and other contact info. Please do take the time to send your comments to them.
This is another important year for the Club. The focus is to make good progress with the building and to provide excellent events, especially with open-air concerts as we get into the Spring season. Plus we look forward to starting on the water activities as soon as the restrictions are lifted. This will include our Friday Fun Series and also our cruising plans which are very popular.
Thank you for your membership and support. My very best wishes to you all.
