Valentine’s Zoom Concert Success

Brian Ho Trio
Over 40 members joined us for a Zoom Concert on Saturday evening. Brian Ho and his Jazz Trio entertained us with classics from both the traditional and modern jazz oeuvre.
Huge thanks to the Events Committee for another wonderful concert. Especially to Lynn Morris and Connie Puccetti for putting together gift bags, Barb Demere for delivering them, and to all our members for joining in our fun “virtual” event.

New Board Member Appointed
Please Weclome Medea Bern

I am delighted to announce that Medea Bern has been appointed to the Board of the Club at Westpoint. Medea has been a member of the Club for 3 years and is one of our first 50 members.
Medea is a native of Florida but has been a resident of the Bay area for 32 years. She is licensed by the Florida and California bar associations. She is married to Bruce Bern with two sons.
She holds a wealth of experience very relevant to the Board. This includes many Committee appointments at the St Frances YC including Chair of the Marketing Committee and the Events Committee. She has also been editor of the ‘Mainsheet’ and has been involved in important areas of governance such as the By-Laws
In addition, Medea has been active in many non-profit organizations including the Chair of the Marine Science Institute. She is a lover of all things on the water including kayaking, sailing, scuba diving, and also is a keen hiker.

It is an honor to join the dedicated leadership team at the Club at Westpoint. I am excited to participate in the evolution of our Club; the Peninsula is fortunate to have Westpoint as a place to meet others who deeply appreciate boating and other watersports. It will be a joy to meet you, fellow members, and I look forward to working with the other board members to craft a club experience that appeals to all of us.

Member Parke Ulrich Honored
Member Parke Ulrich was the Guest Chef for Valentine’s Day Weekend at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal.
As you know, Parke is the executive chef at San Francisco’s Waterbar and Epic Steak, and is co-founder and Executive Chef at Mersea on Treasure Island. Parke Ulrich attributes his life-long interest in cooking and food to his childhood spent on the shores of New Jersey.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Vaccinations Available in San Mateo County for members over 65 years of age

San Mateo County is offering a drive-through first-dose vaccination opportunity for eligible members of our community who are San Mateo County residents aged 65 and older.
The vaccine is free and available to any San Mateo County resident aged 65 or older, regardless of health care provider or insurance coverage.

Devon McClive, internationally renowned performer
San Francisco-based cellist, pianist, singer, and songwriter Devon McClive, will perform a solo pandemic lock-down set on Zoom for The Club at Westpoint on Saturday, March 27th at 5:00 pm. Devon has a powerful and deeply-talented musical voice that comes through in everything she does; whether it’s fronting her own gypsy-folk-rock-jazz band, lending her talents as a cellist to successful touring projects, or as a solo performer mixing cello, piano, and vocals in live loop-based soundscapes, she always sounds like the singular artist she is. This performance will showcase her ability to weave one-of-a-kind sonic paintings through catchy songs born of layered musical textures that are never played the same way twice. You won’t want to miss it!

Happy New Year! The Events Committee has put together a varied and fun program for the first few months of 2021 with concerts, games, and other fun activities. We would love to hear from you, so please send us your suggestions for future events. If you would like to lead an event, a game, or a presentation, please let us know. We will work these events into the calendar. We are all looking forward to socializing together in The Clubhouse soon, as soon as it is safe.
